Single gender education â€Å"There should not be any obstacle to providing single-sex choice within the public school system...We have to look at the achievements of [single-sex] schools that are springing up around the country. We know this has energized students and parents. We could use more schools such as this† (Hilary Clinton). Single gender education is the segregation of students according to their gender. Each sex is placed in a different room or building. This kind of education was much practiced before 1800. In many kingdoms and countries, it was highly recommended on basis of tradition and religion. In Islamic Arabic cultures and some of the European cultures, single gender education was required in secondary and high schools. After the 19th century, the global society started believing in Horace Mann’ system of schools. It made a transition toward the coeducational systems. In fact, the coeducational system was less expensive and more practical for the teachers and the pare nts. At that time, the society considered it is a good step toward fulfilling the gap of inequality between the genders. Today, single gender education is regaining popularity in lots of developed countries like USA, UK, Australia and Germany.
